Remember to check your pulse!

Hi Everybody!  While I am the one who knows a lot about staying well and preventing disease by eating and exercising right, thanks to my son and daughter-in-law for helping me accomplish what I know little about.  They helped me set up this blog to discuss my new book "Weight Loss: How To Use The Marble Method."  People who are using the method tell me that it is far more than weight loss.  They say that it is really about healthy living overall, and that's why we decided to put a more descriptive title on the new television show: "Staying Well With Sunnie Bell."  You can watch the show over the internet if you're out of Comcast range locally.  It streams at the same time it shows on TV right here.  That is Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time, so you can figure it out wherever you are.

On the show my co-host Debbie Johnson and I present health information based on the contents of the book... and more!  On a recent program we discussed and gave the simple recipe for making "Pulse," the Biblical vegetable dish that Daniel and his three friends Shadrach, Mishach, and Abednego, chose to eat instead of the high fat, low fiber foods that was offered to them from the Babylonian King's table. After ten days everybody agreed that those young men looked much more healthy than the rest.  Pulse is a combination of beans and lentils.  It can be served by itself or in combination with other vegetables and / or small amounts of low fat meat.  It can be a meal in itself or offered as a side dish.  Just pick any two kinds of beans... pinto, black, navy, white, black-eyed peas, whatever... and two kinds of lentils... yellow and green is what I use.  Soak them overnight in water that has about a teaspoon of baking soda added.  In the morning rinse them all in a colander, then cook at medium heat on the stove for about two and half to three hours.  Keep enough water on them so the bottom doesn't burn, but not too much water because you want the bean combination to be thick, not runny.  Season to taste (I use onion powder, garlic powder and pepper, and perhaps a little salt) and enjoy!  They taste so good and are so healthy for you!  Eat about 1/2 to 1 cup per day and after ten days you should be looking (and feeling) better than everyone else at king's table.  For more tips including pictures of Pulse as a finished product, visit my Facebook page.
